The Fattening Cells - An Hybrid Utopia.

The structure of the disposition of the “Fattening Cells” is something in between an archetypical theatre and a concentration camp Architectural Masses.
The view and the control of the space is absolute. Touch upon the indiscretion. At the same time it is external and internal. Through the multiplication and the repetition of the biological action arises unity and equality.
The breeding occurs collectively. This way achieves a political organization on the operative function of the multi-fattening cells.
This utopian, but by no means functional structure, above all is an aesthetical event. The biological breeding and production pursues and comes across the production of aesthetical values. Therefore produces art. A live-performance.

Who is Dimitrios S. Zalouchos? Why do we celebrate the honorary recognition of the Poultry Farming School nearly 100 years later? Why, in year 2007, is it so important?

The loss of historical feeling and memory of modern men, has influenced the standpoint of the world as well as the standpoint of identity per se. The search for new possibilities to elaborate on a historical documentary could perhaps reveal the positive aspect of a process.
This particular work is an attempt to construct an imaginary personality D S. Zalouchos and his own utopia within the historical/political/social context of Salonica between 1890-1910.
D. S. Ζalouchos was professor of Philosophy and Justice in the first National Academy of Greece (1900). But his scientific passion and interest was the chicken breeding and the organization of the Poultry Farming School.
The fattening cells is an orthopaedic model of total control of time and space for the chicken. The wooden reproduction and the digital manipulation of the old etchings (1908) recently discovered, creates incidental references on the contemporary social conditions.
A creative compilation of different, existing records and other sources (archive assemblage) in order to create a “mithopoeia”, a hocus-pocus, an historical incident, or a “truth”.
Ultimately, this is an attempt to specify the line between analysing the past and discerning the present and perhaps the immediate/near future. It also explores boundaries of identity as a result of particular social “spaces” of biopolitical apparatuses.
For Evolution de l'Art I propose for sale either the model of "fattening cells", as an ideal way for fattening chickens, or the idea of the installation on a poultry farm i.e. the architectural disegn of my amphitheatrical array of the fattening models.
